Situated between Catania and Messina, Giardini Naxos is a town known to the tourist for its hotels, for its beaches, and for its proximity to Etna.
It is also famous for its, jealously guarded, ancient Sicilian traditions, such as the grape pressing, "a Matrissa"; fishing for costardelle; music by the Naxos Folk Group and the "opera dei pupi", Sicilian puppet shows; and, of course, the classic Sicilian carts.
