Valle dell'Etna, Sicily

Unique Italian trekking route, the Valle dell'Etna represents an obligatory port of call for tourists visiting Sicily and its volcano. The route is as follows: Fornazzo, Rifugio Vitelli, Piano Provenazana, Pista altomontana, Monte Maletto, Monte Scavo, Piano Vetore, Area turistica Etna Sud, Area Sommatale, Valle del Bove, Val Calanna, Zafferana Etnea.

The last section is the most beautiful but also the most demanding and it is vital that prior to departure trekkers obtain detailed information from the Parco dell'Etna authorities regarding possible volcanic activity and variations to the laid down itinerary.
